Our Team.

Brisbane’s Experienced Feeding Team for infants, kids & teens 0-18 years.

At QLFS, our goal is to bring you highly skilled and broadly experienced feeding & nutrition clinicians for infants & children in Queensland. We are leaders, educators and mentors in our respective fields, and passionate about what we do. We have each long been involved in the education and training of other clinicians statewide. When you choose QLFS, rest assured that you will be seeing a clinician with 12-22 (or more!) years of experience, and experience with some of the most complex patients and conditions in Queensland. We understand how challenging feeding problems can be for families, whether you are trying to feed a newborn, a toddler or a teen - let alone the additional stress and complexities than come with feeding a baby or child with medical needs.

We’d love to help your family, whatever your feeding journey looks like. QLFS is here for feeding challenges, big and small. Meet our team of Brisbane-based Lactation Consultants, Paediatric Speech Pathologists & Paediatric Dietitians below.

Karrie Jardine

  • When QLFS first opens, you might see Karrie in the clinic making sure everything is running smoothly, or as your clinician for an urgent appointment. Later in 2024, Karrie will be regularly taking patients as a PAEDIATRIC SPEECH PATHOLOGIST and as a LACTATION CONSULTANT.

  • Karrie has dedicated her 20 year career to the field of infant feeding & swallowing. She is a dual qualified Speech Pathologist and IBCLC Lactation Consultant.

Karrie has spent the majority of her career in major paediatric hospitals and neonatal units where her clinical areas include congenital heart disease, complex airway (including tracheostomy), aerodigestive conditions, life-limiting conditions and tube weaning.

She is passionate about supporting infants to breastfeed to their full potential - whether healthy babies, or those with medical complexities. Her experience includes overcoming multiple challenges to breastfeed her own twin boys.

Karrie is a leader in the field having co-authored an internationally recognised textbook (Essential Dysphagia, 2013), teaching and supporting clinicians within Australia and overseas, and innovating clinical practice in tube weaning and feeding babies after heart surgery. Her research and clinical work has been presented internationally.

She is now excited to lead and serve the team at QLFS. We consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to help your family.
