All tube weans require assessment, planning and implementation by a QLFS Speech Pathologist & Dietitian, as well as approval/oversight by your child's regular medical practitioner.
To ensure the safety and efficacy of our tube weans, the assessment, planning and reviews must be with a QLFS Speech Pathologist and QLFS Dietitian. We are able to support a patient's existing clinicians (eg in regional areas) to undertake a tube wean, however assessment of suitability and the tube weaning protocol (including progress reviews) must be completed by QLFS.
QLFS tube weans are offered within the clinic (ie not an inpatient admission) and are usually able to conducted via telehealth.
Each child & family will vary in their needs within a tube weaning process, and as such, costs will also vary. We always aim to offer the most cost effective approach possible, while maintaining safety and efficacy of the tube wean. You will only be billed for the time actually required. Your clinicians will discuss the recommended weaning process for your child and provide an estimate of costs.
Please complete an appointment request form to express your interest in our tube weaning program.
